Up for sale is an outstanding original limited edition Norman Rockwell lithograph entitled “Gary Cooper as the Texan” from the small edition of only 200. This edition was hand signed by the American master himself in the lower right corner in pencil “Norman Rockwell” and was beautifully framed in an attractive and fitting wood frame. The image was originally painted by Norman in 1930 for the front cover of the May 24th, 1930 edition of the Saturday Evening Post. Norman fantastically played on stereotypes and masculinity in this image as we see the tough cowboy having makeup applied, specifically lipstick by the male artist while a cigar hangs from his lips. The condition of the print is absolutely pristine and has been perfectly preserved in its original vintage/highly attractive wood frame. The single white matting shows some very minor spots of foxing. This is a desirable and hard to find signed work by Rockwell especially in such fabulous condition which is accurately depicted in the provided images but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
