Up for sale is a fabulous etching by the master Italian printmaker of the 18th century Giovanni Battista Piranesi. This original print by Piranesi is entitled “Prospetto d’un regio Cortile” or “The Royal Courtyard” showcasing classical Roman column supported building in perfect symmetry except for the couple of figures present in the foreground. The print appears to be a very early state but the print has been adhered to its backing so paper watermarks are unable to be seen. The quality and crispness of impression is very good and while the print is in overall good condition foxing is present. Housed in a vintage black and gold wood frame this work is ready to be hung and enjoyed. If you have any questions regarding this Piranesi Roman etching please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
