Up for sale is a truly spectacular impressionist autumn landscape oil painting by the talented American artist George W. Picknell. Executed in oil paint on wood panel this work shows a fine array of fall colors from yellow to red not only in the trees above but also in the smaller bush which runs the sides of the dirt path. The brushwork is to die for as it appears to have been painted rather quick with heavy applications of paint that overlap and build up upon each other adding depth and layers. The condition of the work is excellent showing some minimal rubbing from the frame (only visible when removed from frame) and minimal surface dirt/grime most visible in the patch of sky top left. Signed in the low right corner “G.W. Picknell” the work is numbered verso “#422” and shows an embossed stamp from the art supply company the panel was manufactured by. This is truly a phenomenal example of Picknell’s work and is ready to be hung and enjoyed.
