Up for sale is an extremely rare and exceptional oil painting by the talented Florida artist Guy Labree. This tremendous painting depicts a male and female green winged teal duck within an expansive Florida landscape. With a lovely contrast between the dense foreground packed with green vegetation of lilies and reeds it plays well with the far cypress tree line on the other side of the water. With the ducks placed so delicately at the works center the large cloud head looming overhead adds an intense verticality to the work showing exceptional painterly skill. While the scene at hand is incredibly peaceful and idyllic an intense storm lingers in the distance feeling almost a world away. Painted in such a fine realist fashion I particularly love the dragonfly and frog in the foreground as well as the cypress trees dripping with Spanish moss with each similar to that of a waterfall. Showing a time later in the afternoon a purple color is cast across the sky and clouds with some orange of a sunset just becoming visible on the intense cloud formation.

Guy Labree’s original oil paintings are exceptionally rare only surfacing for sale every few years, this by far is one of his best works I have ever seen when it comes to subject matter and overall quality. A notable Florida painter I would recommend you reading the artists biography below as his works are held in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian and had an important relationship with the Florida Seminole Tribe. The canvas measures 20 x 24 inches while its original wood frame measures 23.5 x 27.5 inches and the work is bears the artists signature low right and the date of 1985. The condition of the painting is extremely fine with just some minimal cosmetic imperfections being present to the frame. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
