Up for sale is a phenomenal and rare original photograph by the early 20th century Western photographic brothers Fred and Oscar Kiser. This nice size image shows the famous Crater Lake looking Southwest towards Mt. Scott which can be clearly seen between branches of the tall mountain hemlock tree. This fantastic image is composed of three major components taking this photo from good to great which first and foremost focuses on this powerfully large and beautiful hemlock tree in the foreground that extends far outside the range of the camera and frames the right half of the image. Then we have the mountainous rocky mountain terrain far below dotted with large boulders which appear quite small. Then in the background is the famous Crater Lake which is perfectly still followed by the nearly 9000ft tall Mt. Scott.

The Kiser brothers were two of the best commercial photographers of the American West of the early 20th century with their original larger compositions such as this incredibly rare. The majority of images that come for sale are smaller hand-colored prints and reproductions. This large composition is an absolutely breathtaking image and as far as I can tell this is the only known example; I have not been able to locate another example of this depiction from the Kiser brothers. The condition shows some discoloration to the top left corner and creases present to both bottom corners. Handling wear and cosmetic blemishes can be seen but the image is very strong overall.

The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this fine Fred H. Kiser photograph of Crater Lake and Mt. Scott but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
