Up for sale is an outstanding original watercolor painting by the talented South Carolina painter Steven Jordan known for his depictions of the low-country. This original composition is entitled “Spoleto Festival” and shows a large gorilla on stage singing as a crowd of people observe from afront. This is a rather unique work of art depicting what Steven referred to as one of the most strange acts to ever appear at the performing arts festival. As seen low center a hand written title gives context to the image reading; “The most unusual act ever to appear at Spoleto, Charleston’s annual arts festival, was this mountain gorilla from Zaire. Although unable to speak, he was taught to “sing” along with classical music. Here he performs at the opening ceremonies.”. Signed in the lower-right corner the condition is just outstanding, free from any wear or damage and is large with the painting measuring 29 x 19 inches while the frame measures 42 3/4 x 31 3/4 inches. Painted circa 1998, this is a wonderful example from Jordan and a fine case in point as to why his works of South Carolina are so desirable and enjoyed by many collectors.

This is a large painting and will only be sold framed if you pick the work up. If you require the painting to be shipped I will remove the work and only ship the painting!
