Up for sale is an absolutely stunning original oil painting on canvas depicting the German city of Idstein which is just North West of Frankfurt. The citys first documentation was in 1102 dating it to be at least 900 years old! The painting features Idstein's famous castle and mammoth towering medieval hexenturm. The traditional architecture of the German houses can be seen low left of the tower with their timber framing. Painted in an impressionist fashion this work has some very interesting provenance which the low center engraved plaque reveals. This work was personally given by the mayor of Idstein Hermann Muller, who served from 1978 to 2002, to Richard L. Peppers. Richard worked for Black & Decker and was a executive for the company's European expansion team.

The painting is signed in the lower right corner "Fritz Grandpierre" and dated 1978. The canvas measures 16 x 20 inches while its original vintage wood frame measures 20.25 x 24 inches. The condition of the painting is outstanding as well as the frame. Fritz Grandpierre was a local artist of Idstein and had an incredibly talented hand, the painting contains a superior level of detail and attention clearly seen in the architecture and swirling beautiful sky. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this fine German oil painting of Idstein but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
