Up for sale is an outstanding original pastel painting by the extremely talented western historical artist Don Crook. Don has been awarded countless medals and honors for his American West paintings and has even been given the great name of the "Norman Rockwell of Western Art". This painting entitled "John Wayne - A Man of the West" depicts John in 6 portraits from different times of his life from his greatest roles. These portraits are from "The Fighting Kentuckian", "The Searchers", "Rio Bravo", "True Grit" and "She Wore A Yellow Ribbon". The quality and level of execution is phenomenal and the painting is in overall excellent condition. Signed in the lower right corner with Don's trademark "Crook" inside a buffalo, this work also has an engraved brass plaque lower center with the title or the work, artist name and date of 1982.

Resting in its original and incredibly stunning western style wood frame measuring a total of 34 1/2 x 41 inches the work is rather large and looks unbelievable when hung! This frame choice was commonly done by Don during this time period as you will see other works from the early 1980's in the same reclaimed/barn wood style frame. The frame just has one small cosmetic imperfection upper right. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this American icon but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
