Up for sale is a fantastic watercolor painting by the wonderful English artist Alfred Heaton Cooper entitled “Oaks and White, Hawthorn, Windemere”. This fantastic landscape painting from the Lake District in North-Eastern England showing a tall oak tree with three sheep at its base grazing while a smaller tree is completely covered in white blooming flowers. In the background lake Windemere can be seen with the rolling Cumbria mountains in the distance. The sheep and white flowering tree stand out with excellent contrast to its mostly green surroundings. The work is signed in the lower right corner “A. Heaton Cooper” and is in fine original condition! Alfred’s paintings depicting the Lake District are his most desirable subject matter far more appreciated than say his Norwegian landscapes which he painted before moving back to England in the late 19th century. This work is hand titled verso.
