Up for sale is a gorgeous oil painting by the talented female Dane artist Lis Bjergsted depicting Nyhavn in Copenhagen, Denmark. This famous 17th-century canal is lined by beautiful 18th and 17th-century townhouses painted in excellent pastel colors. This mid-century work is executed on canvas measuring 16 1/4 x 20 1/4 inches while the original white and black accented wood frame measures 20 x 24 inches. Lis fell in love with painting cityscapes and was extremely talented at depicting Copenhagen’s unique architecture perfectly capturing the city’s atmosphere in a distinctive and attractive fashion. She was also very talented with capturing the weather and or time of day which this work clearly shows a fabulous setting sun casting a striking reddish-orange throughout the sky and across the water’s surface. Lis’s painted this work with excellent lines and fine brushwork, it is a remarkably well-executed painting and is a fine example from her body of work. In excellent condition, this work shows minimal surface imperfections and or blemishes to the frame.
