Up for sale is a gorgeous hand signed limited edition lithograph by the famous 20th century French artist Georges Braque. Entitled "Vitrail de la Chapelle de Warengeville" or the Stained Glass Window of the Church of St. Dominque. The stained glass window was crafted by Braque as his summer home was near the Church. Signed low right in white paint "G. Braque" the work is numbered 77/150 low left. A letter from Mourlot accompanies this work and stated in French


July 21, 1971"I have the advantage of communicating to you the information that you asked me about the lithography of Braque the artist executed this stained glass window at the request of the cure Varengeville where the great painter had a house that he lived in the summer Braque wanted to make a lithograph of this composition so we had to take a photo of this stained glass window to the size requested by the artist He executed his litho on transfer paper then giving us all the indications for the test of each color made on the zinc in front of him. I therefore consider that this composition is an original work, signed by himself please accept dear sir the assurance of our best feelings -Fernand Mourlot"


This quite beautiful print dates to circa 1960 and depicts the colorful stained glass window exceptionally well. Capturing the bright colors of the colored glass the image is in excellent condition and looks tremendous on the wall. The print measures roughly 29 x 18 inches while its silver wood frame measures 35 x 24 inches. This work will be shipped without glass to ensure there is no breaking while in transit.
