Up for sale is a beautiful lithograph depicting the famous Le Pont des Arts bridge by the 20th century French painter Bernard Buffet. Now an incredibly celebrated expressionist artist, Bernard Buffet was very much inspired by the arches of the bridge cross the Seine while the vertical Eiffel Tower stands tall in the distance. This lithograph is a rare example with itssheet measuring 19.5 x 25.5 inches while the plate measures 16 x 21 inches and is from the small edition of only 125. Amazingly numbered “1/125” as seen low left the work, this is the first from the edition making it that much more fascinating. Boldly signed in pencil low right “Bernard Buffet” this work is printed on Arches paper and was printed in 1968 by Mourlot in Paris. The overall condition of this impressive Buffet lithograph is good but does show toning, matt burn and light handling including some wear to its edges.
