Up for sale is an absolutely outstanding antique 19th century Italian bronze figure of Mercury after the famous Renaissance statue in Florence, Italy by the renowned Giovanni de Bologna (1529 - 1608). This bronze figure of Mercury measures approximately 21 inches in total height and is marked on the base "Nell Roma" (In Rome) indicating it was manufactured / cast in Rome, Italy. No other marks or signatures are present on this piece. The overall quality and casting is phenomenal with excellent detail seen in the figures muscle, face and hair. This Renaissance styled bronze is one of the finest antique examples I have seen showing this figure and it is nice to know it was cast in Italy. This bronze is in good condition with original patina but shows wear to his left tricep, a stress crack on his right arm, a stress crack to the right ankle wing and a possible old repair to his left ankle; all shown in the last provided image. This sculpture carries such a presence and quality which is captured in the provided images but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
